Destinations
From high valleys to ancient dzongs, every corner of Bhutan has its own story.
Each valley in Bhutan has its own dialect, festival and story.
These are the places our guests love most. Most journeys begin in Paro and Thimphu; with more time, we head east into the heart of the kingdom.
Our destinations
-
2–3 nights
Thimphu
Bhutan's small, friendly capital and our home. Explore the craft school, the Memorial Chorten where locals circle and pray, the weekend farmers' market and the hilltop Buddha Dordenma.
-
2–3 nights
Paro
A broad valley of rice fields and painted farmhouses, home to the international airport, Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum and the famous cliffside monastery of Paro Taktsang.
-
1–2 nights
Punakha
A warm, fertile valley reached over the Dochula Pass. Punakha Dzong sits where two rivers meet, and nearby trails lead through rice terraces to Chimi Lhakhang.
-
1 night
Trongsa
At the very centre of the country, Trongsa Dzong spills down a ridge above a deep gorge. It is the ancestral seat of the royal family and a natural stop on the road east.
-
2–3 nights
Bumthang
Four valleys of temples, apple orchards and buckwheat fields. Bumthang is Bhutan's spiritual heartland and home to Tamshing Lhakhang, the ancient temple our company is named after.
